A better future is possible through community care.

The Reimagining Public Safety (RPS) Coalition seeks to transform Hawaiʻi’s public safety system. Together, we can shift from policing and incarceration towards intersectional, public health, and wellness-based approaches to community safety. RPS advocates for policies to increase non-police first responders, diversion programs, and solutions that address the root causes of poverty and crime.

RPS is a diverse group of Hawaiʻi-based organizations and everyday residents that bring both lived experience and expertise from a range of sectors, including public health, the criminal legal system, economic revitalization, restorative justice, police oversight and accountability, mental health, street medicine, harm reduction, and more.

Public safety for all means investing in people, not prisons.

Join RPS in advocating for upstream solutions that disrupt the incarceration pipeline, provide people with real opportunities to succeed, and minimize the need for policing.
